Weekly Happy List (41)
I'm all about book adaptations, Mr. King books, and sparkling water this week

Also, I'm not trying to make money (no affiliates, ever or inauthentic brand partnerships). I'm a person who is chronically online with a 9-5 job, watching too much TV and reading too many books in her downtime.
📚What I Read and Enjoyed
I'm a big, big Stephen King fan, and I had this book on my library hold list many months ago. I had forgotten about it until it arrived this week. I'm a Holly fan since 'Mr. Mercedes' and, of course, 'The Outsider' (book and show). This book doesn't disappoint; it's chilly, descriptive, and so mischievous—exactly what you expect from Mr. King and more.
When Penny Dahl calls the Finders Keepers detective agency hoping for help locating her missing daughter, Holly is reluctant to accept the case. Her partner, Pete, has Covid. Her (very complicated) mother has just died. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny Dahl’s desperate voice makes it impossible for Holly to turn her down.
Mere blocks from where Bonnie Dahl disappeared live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. They are the picture of bourgeois respectability: married octogenarians, devoted to each other, and semi-retired lifelong academics. But they are harboring an unholy secret in the basement of their well-kept, book-lined home, one that may be related to Bonnie’s disappearance. And it will prove nearly impossible to discover what they are up to: they are savvy, they are patient, and they are ruthless.
📺 What I Watched and Enjoyed
Black Cake: This was one of my favorite reads this year, and the TV show hasn't disappointed me (cough, cough 'All the Light We Cannot See'). In a family saga style, it follows the story of a woman born in the Caribbean and her family life throughout decades and countries, including Jamaica, England, the United States, and Scotland. (Hulu)
The Fall of the House of Usher: I'm a sucker for Edgar Allan Poe, so this series did not disappoint. I love how Poe's stories are sprinkled throughout the episodes. Think of it as a gory 'Succession.' Fun and fast-paced, it held my attention until the end.(Netflix)
Locked In: Lazy saturday movie for the win. Think of this as a step better than a Lifetime movie. A woman suffers an accident that leaves her completely locked in her body while a nurse tries to piece the puzzling case together. (Netflix)
🛍️ What I Bought and Enjoyed
My frother! A cheapie from Amazon makes all the difference in my morning coffee. I Make coffee on a french press, warm up almond milk and froth, sweeten with vanilla syrup and then sprinkle some mocha or cinnamon.
💕 Micro-joy
Seltzer! so much better than drinking tap water. I have the Sodastream that I love and have recommended here, but I am obsessed with these three seltzer flavors. This flavor , this flavor and this flavor are god tier to me. I have a Diet Coke only on the weekends policy and these flavors do the trick for me.
🕵️ Hack of the Week
There are SO many online second hand stores now (yay!) but sometimes can get very overwhelming to find something in specific. This website is an aggregator, so it will help you find what you are looking for, all at once in many platforms.
