What I Loved This Week (59)
I'm all about a show you MUST watch, a novel worth the hype and sleeping better this week

📚What I Read and Loved
Piglet: The library hold finally came through, and let me tell you, the hype is real. Yes, you need to read it. What a book! The descriptions of food and cooking are some of the best I’ve ever read in fiction. The way the author connects the characters' relationship with food in the midst of her stressful season is masterful.
Outside of a childhood nickname she can't shake, Piglet's rather pleased with how her life's turned out. An up-and-coming cookbook editor at a London publishing house, she's got lovely, loyal friends and a handsome fiancé, Kit, whose rarefied family she actually, most of the time, likes, despite their upper-class eccentricities. One of the many, many things Kit loves about Piglet is the delicious, unfathomably elaborate meals she's always cooking.
But when Kit confesses a horrible betrayal two weeks before they're set to be married, Piglet finds herself suddenly...hungry. The couple decides to move forward with the wedding as planned, but as it nears and Piglet balances family expectations, pressure at work, and her quest to make the perfect cake, she finds herself increasingly unsettled, behaving in ways even she can't explain. Torn between a life she's always wanted and the ravenousness that comes with not getting what she knows she deserves, Piglet is, by the day of her wedding, undone, but also ready to look beyond the lies we sometimes tell ourselves to get by.
📺 What I Watched and Loved
Diarra from Detroit Comedy - Mystery
If you watch one thing this week, hell, this month, you NEED to watch this. I hadn’t belly laughed in a while with a show. There’s nothing like it on TV. I found out about it last week thanks to
. If it weren’t for her, I wouldn't know it existed. This show deserves more hype than it’s getting. Please watch!A divorcing, overworked teacher finds herself drawn into a cold case after a dating app matches her with a man she suspects is the adult version of a boy abducted in the 90s.
As of today all the episodes are streaming (BET+)
🛍️ What I Bought and Loved
Magnesium, BABY! This supplement is a very important piece in my PM wind-down service (more on this next week), and I notice an improvement in longer and deeper sleep that translates to better early workouts and more energy in the day. It’s affordable, effective, and it doesn’t taste bad.
💕 Micro-Joy
CVS Extra Care card+ . Through my employer, I get $10 monthly to spend at CVS on anything I want or need.
In this economy, $10 might not seem like much, but it has been helpful. It allows me to indulge in buying cheap hair products I want to try, or to refresh my mascara more regularly (who replaces their mascara every 3 months? Not me!), or even to experiment with a bold lipstick that I’m unsure if I’ll use a lot. With the many offers in the app, when stacked, I get good deals.
Funny story: my husband is banned from using my number at the CVS checkout. The same goes for Old Navy super cash and other loyalty or cashback programs. There’s nothing that will anger me more than my clueless husband using my WELL-EARNED rewards on stupid household stuff.
ps! If you have any drugstore holy grails, please share!
