Happy first week of 2024, friends! I'm back with my weekly roundup after a brief hiatus in December. This week is filled with some great shows I binged during the break.
📚What I Read and Enjoyed
My Husband is an incredible book that delves into a woman's decade-long obsession with her husband. It's dark and humorously captivating. A note on this book: Although marketed as a thriller, it's more of an inner dialogue diary entry and a biting dark comedy – and that's a good thing.
At forty years old, she has an enviable life: a successful career, stunning looks, a beautiful house in the suburbs, two healthy children, and most importantly, an ideal husband, whose wealthy background allows her to transcend her own social class. After fifteen years together, she is still besotted with him. But she’s never quite sure that her passion is reciprocated.
Determined to keep their relationship perfect, she meticulously prepares for every encounter they have, always taking care to make her actions seem effortless. She watches him attentively, testing him to make sure that he still loves her just as much as he did when they first met.
Until one day she realizes she may have gone too far . . .
📺 What I Watched and Enjoyed
New → Fool Me Once (2024) - Harlan Coben never disappoints when you're in the mood for a cozy couch and pizza binge-watch. This won't win any awards, but it's filled with twists and turns, making it highly entertaining. Maya, a former special ops pilot, returns home from war only to witness an unthinkable scene on her nanny cam: her two-year-old daughter playing with her husband, Joe, who was brutally murdered two weeks earlier. Is he really alive? (Netflix)
Oldie → The Sounds (2020) - This TV show has all the elements of a world-class thriller and lives up to expectations. I highly recommend it. Set in breathtaking New Zealand, the mystery unfolds in a small town where everyone seems to be hiding something, and the characters are complex, layered, and, I must say, very good looking. (Acorn or Hoopla)
New → Natalia Grace Speaks (2023) - One of the most shocking documentaries I watched last year premiered its second season last week. Hearing her side of the story was long overdue. Those people should be locked up. (Max)
Disclaimer: It's disheartening to see what she went through, and even more so how the system failed her. If you prefer to avoid such content, I suggest you skip it.
🛍️ What I Bought and Enjoyed
I’m petite so I struggle to find good sweatpants and sweatshirts. Cue THE GAP . I bought the most wonderful set at a good price point, keeps me toasty, and I will live in both until summer comes. Find it here and here.
💕 Micro-Joy
I recently visited a city I wasn't initially excited about, and truthfully, it blew my socks off. Philadelphia is like NYC's quirky little sister, and I absolutely love it. From great food and cool neighborhoods to friendly people and a plethora of family and outdoor activities, not to mention outstanding breweries (according to my partner —I don't drink), there's so much more to explore. We left with both our bellies and hearts full.
🕵️ Hack of the Week
TimeShifter: An app made to combat the effects of Jet Lag. For all of you coming from your winter/summer break this week, thank me later!

🧜🏼♀️ Articles and Bits I loved
I’m late to the party, but this book list from
is gold. It’s supposed to be a gift guide, but I’ll use it for myself this year. Specially loved the Family Sagas recommendations. (I’m a sucker for Family Sagas and I have not read some of these)This is a party I really really want to get invited to. (Psst, it involves reading and being cozy)
AI Astrology is getting scary, and too personal.
- essay about the year of the “Girl” , and how that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The oral history of “The Simple Life” 20 years later
Gossip is out of control. Tiktok is the culprit.
Also, I enjoyed these: 99 things money can’t buy, the memes that were a hit in 2023, an infuriating story into the origins of Spotify wrapped, interesting tidbits about in-flight entertainment and a deep dive into the Umami flavor.
