What I Loved This Week (97)
I'm all about a book everyone is reading, a Liz Moore's TV adaptation and so many books for my TBR this week.

📚What I Read and Loved
Broken Country: Everyone I know online or IRL is reading this book so I’m preaching to the choir. I quite liked it. It’s a fast and bingeable read. The story grabs you and will make you shed a tear or two. Is it a good book? Yes
Is it the best book of the year as everyone is saying? No.
Beth and her gentle, kind husband Frank are happily married, but their relationship relies on the past staying buried. But when Beth’s brother-in-law shoots a dog going after their sheep, Beth doesn’t realize that the gunshot will alter the course of their lives. For the dog belonged to none other than Gabriel Wolfe, the man Beth loved as a teenager—the man who broke her heart years ago. Gabriel has returned to the village with his young son Leo, a boy who reminds Beth very much of her own son, who died in a tragic accident.
As Beth is pulled back into Gabriel’s life, tensions around the village rise and dangerous secrets and jealousies from the past resurface, this time with deadly consequences. Beth is forced to make a choice between the woman she once was, and the woman she has become.
📺 What I Watched and Loved
Long Bright River: I read the book on which this show is based, and I instantly fell in love with Liz Moore (of the God of the Woods fame) so the expectations were high. I quite liked this adaptation! Seyfried does a great job as Mickey and the show does a good job of balancing the main mystery with the personal story. (Peacock)
Adolescence: Gripping is the word that comes to mind! I can understand how this is not for everyone, and it’s a bummer watch that will leave you shaken, but I’m in awe of the camera work and the raw acting. I also loved the story being told from many stages of the crime committed and from different POVs. (Netflix)
💕 Micro-Joy
I’m traveling to France today! I’m so happy to have time to rest off work for a bit and of course excited for Paris and the mini road trip I planned full of delicious reservations at wonderful restaurants. Will report back with recommendations.
